New app for Thailand minivans – booking and complaining all in one!

BANGKOK: -- A new application for booking minivans starts today – you can book and pay for a seat, then report the driver if he breaks the law – all in one easy package!

The “Get Van Booking” app is a joint collaboration of the metropolitan police and the private sector.

Travelers will be able to get seats without the necessity for queuing.

And they will be able to pay online through the app.

Then if things turn pear-shaped you can report the driver at the press of a button.

Wanna add real functionality?

Use GPS and the built in accelerometers and capture the speed and driving habits of the vans those smart phones are riding in.  Flag (in real time) unsafe driving practices and have a cop waiting at the next intersection to fine the crap out of any kamikaze drivers. Win-win.

Hop in the van, fire up the app, key in the license plate number and let it report to a realtime tracking system.  No additional user input required.

If Google can tell me how fast traffic is moving on every major road in the world (except maybe China and NK), Thailand should be able to put together a system to track the driving habits of public transport drivers.

OTOH, that may be a good app idea for an entrepreneur, completely independent of any corrupt government...

Can we book and file a complaint at the same time? It'd be more efficient that way, as we'd only need to start the app once.

Book and pay online.....then go to the crappy people at the little crappy bus stop/collection place and expect service?

:sorry:........... I may be a little pessimistic, but I can't see it working here in Cha Am any time soon:))

Mmm, so if the driver stays just under 120kph indicated all the way he cannot be reported in the app unless exceeding the national speed limit of 90kph counts as 'Other'?

Forget it.

Can I complain without booking? It'll take a few strong men to get me into those death traps.
