How and Where to Report New Home Address to Immigration?

Recommended Posts

I am staying in Thailand on an extension of Non-Immigrant Retirement "visa." Moving this week to a new home address in the same zone (same street).

Do I need to inform Immigration of an address change before my next 90 Day Report is due?

Is there a special form to use? How to dowload the form and where does the form need to be sent? Do I need to personally submit a form at Immigration (Chaeng Wattana)?

Thanking all of you for your experienced replies.

How long you have to report your change of address will depend upon the office you go to. Some might fine you for not doing it within 24 hours but most do not.

You will submit a TM28 form. Download: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/tm28.doc

They may also want a TM30 form from the homeowner. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/tm30.doc

Thank you, Joe. After completing Form TM 28, can I mail it in to my local Immigration office (which is Chaeng Wattana for BKK)? And whom should I address the Form to? Or do I need to personally visit the Immigration office?

You edited your topic to add your office to it.

They will not want a TM30 form.

You wait and do the change of address until you do your next 90 day report.

They will not accept a TM28 by mail.

I see. But I do the 90 Day Report by EMS Mail to Chaeng Wattana. Can I include the completed and signed TM28 Form with my next 90 Day Report by Mail? Or do I need to personally go to Immigration with the 90 Day Report AND the TM28 Form since I have changed my home address?

Ubonjoe has already stated in his previous posting that they will not accept a TM28 by mail. Using my Sherlock Holmes powers of deduction I have concluded that this means that you will need to go to sunny Chaengwattana in person with this particular form duly completed.

And I would suggest that you do this sooner rather than later, particularly if your next 90-day report is still some way off.

Wake Up    366

On a retirement extension of stay living in condo in Bangkok. Moving out of condo to live in various hotels throughout Thailand. Want to renew my extension of stay in a few months but will be living short term in various hotels in various cities. No plan just enjoying Thailand different cities.  Is there an immigration office that is best to use when living in hotels traveling around Thailand? Any special issues with this nomad life and renewing extension of stay?

Thank you for your advice on this issue.

So the conclusion that I am getting is that each time you move from one condo to another, you need to personally go to the Immigration office of your jurisidiction and deliver to them a new TM28? This must be done in person? And does anyone know what is the grace period for this paperwork to be filed?
