Not NACC’s duty to look into whether politicians have paid their taxes, sec-gen says

BANGKOK: -- The National Anti-Corruption Commission can at best look into increases in the assets and overall worth of politicians and report to the Revenue Department whether taxes should have been paid on such gains, but not look into whether or not they have actually paid their taxes, NACC secretary-general Sansern Poljiak said on Monday.

Cabbie fined 2,000 baht for mocking a passenger ugly

BANGKOK: -- A taxi driver was fined 2,000 baht and forced to attend a three-hour course of good public service by the Land Transport Department for mocking a female passenger as ugly and ordering her and her boyfriend out of his car.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Billionaire philanthropist David Rockefeller, former head of Chase Manhattan Corp and patriarch of one of the most famous and influential American families, died on Monday, a family spokesman said. He was 101.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are planning to ban passengers travelling on certain U.S.-bound foreign airline flights from carrying into the cabin larger electronic devices in response to an unspecified terrorism threat, U.S. officials told Reuters on Monday.
