Anyone know what sort of spider this is? He lives in the bathroom and has been named Goliath, the missus being a devout Buddhist has refused to allow me to kill it.

Moved to the plants, pets forum, that's where the experts on critter identification tend to hang out

(I have spiders just like this at my place. They keep to themselves).

when we first moved into our place one of those critters scooted by and as an arachnophobe I freaked...and then a sister - in - law who was sitting next to me grabbed it barehanded and threw it out the door...and then she grinned at me...

later I read that they are harmless and now I'm content to share my space with them...the new perspective has helped to cure my arachnophobia, almost...

A beautiful creature, would keep the mosquito population at bay I'd imagine.

There's one 'based' in my wardrobe at the moment - a bit un-nerving as I know I'll scream if I take something out and it runs up my arm !

I don't have a towel rack (had one but it broke) in my bathroom and hang the towel over the top of the door...the spiders like to hide in there so now I routinely give the towel a shake before I use it to give everyone a break...
