BANGKOK: -- THE Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant yesterday for Somkiart Pongpaibul, a former leader of the now-defunct People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), after he failed to show up to hear an Appeals Court ruling on the group’s 2008 invasion of Government House and state agencies.

DOE to discuss fisheries labor shortage with Myanmar

BANGKOK, 20 June 2017 (NNT) – Members of the fisheries industry have lamented a labor shortage of up to 74,000 people with as many as 4,000 ships docked due to a lack of workers, saying discussions are to be held with Myanmar to attract immigrant laborers.

PATTANI, Thailand (Reuters) - A roadside bomb planted by suspected Muslim insurgents killed six Thai soldiers and wounded four on Monday in the southern province of Pattani, police said.

PATTANI: -- A ROADSIDE bomb killed six troops and injured four others as they were on patrol in the restive South yesterday, Internal Security Operation Command (Isoc) officers said, adding that a spike in insurgent violence was expected before the end of the holy month of Ramadan on Saturday.
