A 62 year old man from Bangkok died on Koh Tao yesterday while out snorkeling with his wife and two daughters.

Sirichai Phutrakul complained of feeling tired while swimming in a life jacket in shallow waters off Ao Kluay Theun, said his wife.

He tried to swim back to the boat put passed out and was face down in the water for a minute before divers at the scene fished him out.

He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

Why was nobody on the boat keeping an eye on their customers?

Hopefully he was enjoying himself before the end.  Gotta be better than long, painful descent in a crowded hospital ward.

Only 62 - and his wife and kids were there to witness his demise - very sad indeed.

seems this death at Koh Tao  is one that is not so mysterious and does not seem to be murder

RIP - tragic death and sympathy to the loved ones left behind.

How about setting up a separate Koh Tao forum and as result improve the quality of the Samui forum.  There is enough news and trash talk to justify a new local section...

Whatever the cause of death (referring to Sheryl's post) - just what kind of life jacket leaves you "face down" in the water? Shocking.
