A 3.6-magnitude earthquake shook the Mae Saruay district of Chiang Rai province early Saturday, the Seismological Bureau of the Thai Meteorological Department reported.

The quake was experienced for just five seconds. Locals said they could feel the tremor. No damage was reported.

The bureau said the quake happened at 4.38am at a depth of 11 kilometres in Tambon Mae Saruay of Mae Saruay.

Spelled Mae Suai, not Mae Saruay.  But standardizing of place names here is something they haven't considered yet apparently.

Coincidentally I felt what I thought was a tremor today, but at 2:30 PM not 4:30 AM. So when I saw the headline I thought it was what I felt.

I googled Mae Saruay for a while trying to find such a place, I considered Mae Suai but thought that it would have woken me up if it had been there.

By the coordinates at the Thai Seismological Bureau, the Quake was about 6km NW off the Mae Suai reservoir.

It was only a 3.6 and at 4:30 am, so unlikely that many people felt it.  Our relatives didn't mention it and they were almost on top of it.
