The Koh Pangan authorities and Department of Land Transport officials were out in force on Monday night stopping illegal taxis heading for the Full Moon party on the island.

Jet Jongjit said that illegal operators were giving the registered services a bad name after many incidents of problems for tourists.

These included theft and not taking passengers to the proper destination.

A road block was set up on the way to Had Rin.

Meanwhile tourists travelling on the roof of vehicles were also told to behave themselves as that is not allowed for safety reasons.

"..illegal operators were giving the registered services a bad name... "

This is usually the main issue, not the tourist safety

Dear, oh dear. As if the registered ones couldn't manage that all by themselves.

Such hypocrisy.

Doesn't this event promote consumption of alcoholic beverages and drugs?

Doesn't party-goer behavior violate Thailand's cultural and ethical traditions?

Anyone check participants for legal age?

How can Prayut according to his 12 Values not focus first on the event itself that surely brings shame to Thailand?

Instead authorities stop illegal taxis!

The Full Moon Party is all about money and that defines what's legal.

Once again, all betwixt the lines!! I went to the FMP once about 15 years ago, definitely not my cup of Sangsom, but to each there own. But I do recall those rascally  youngsters riding in jalopies not subject to the usual stringent Thai safety standards was the number one danger to their health and safety.

Who cares for a bunch of farangs getting raped or killed in these "events"?

Kindly pull out your calculators and count the money it generates...
